Preventive and Hygiene

Preventive care is the quiet part of dentistry, and it is the part that decides how the rest of your life with your teeth goes. We schedule it properly, we do it thoroughly, and we do it with a hygienist who already knows your history.

What this involves

What a hygiene visit looks like

A hygiene appointment here is scheduled with enough time to be unhurried. Your hygienist reviews what has changed since your last visit, checks the health of your gums, and removes the buildup that a toothbrush cannot reach. If something looks different from last time, you hear about it while you are still in the chair, not in a letter afterwards.

You see the same hygienist wherever possible. That continuity matters more than most people expect. Someone who has watched a small area for two years notices the change that a stranger would read as normal.

The comprehensive exam

Your first exam is a full evaluation rather than a quick look. We review your medical history, examine the teeth and the soft tissue, screen for oral cancer, assess your bite, and take the imaging needed to see what is happening below the surface.

At the end you get a plain explanation of where things stand. If treatment is worth considering, we tell you what it is for, what happens if you wait, and what it costs before anything is scheduled.

Gum health and maintenance

Gum disease is common, quiet and treatable in its early stages. We measure and record gum health at your visits so that change is visible over time rather than discovered late.

If you need periodontal maintenance rather than a standard cleaning, we explain the difference, why it applies to you, and how often we would like to see you. Some patients settle into a six month rhythm. Others do better at three or four.

What you do between visits

Most of your dental care happens in your bathroom, not in our building. We give practical guidance built around what you will actually keep doing: technique, timing, and the few products worth the money.

No lectures. If something is not working, we would rather adjust the plan than repeat the same advice at every appointment.

Who it is for

You are due, or overdue

Whether your last cleaning was six months or six years ago, the visit starts in the same place: an honest look at where things are now.

You want continuity

If you are tired of explaining your history to a new face every visit, this is the practical reason patients move to us.

You would rather prevent

Small problems caught early stay small. Preventive care is the least expensive dentistry there is.

How it works

    01

    Review

We go through your history, your concerns and anything that has changed since we last saw you.

    02

    Examine

A full clinical exam with digital imaging, gum measurements and an oral cancer screening.

    03

    Clean

Your hygienist removes buildup above and below the gumline, then polishes and finishes.

    04

    Plan

You leave with a clear picture of your oral health and a written plan if any treatment is worth doing.

Common questions

Preventive and Hygiene

Twice a year suits most adults. If your gums need closer attention, we may suggest a shorter interval and explain exactly why.
